Two contrasting nines. The front is undulating and varied. The back can be very challenging with water on nearly every hole. Generally fast and tricky greens. The 11th & 12th are now separated more clearly by new dunes. The 12th is now a par 5 making the 72. The 17th is the most difficult with the island green.

This course now has a fully inclusive green fee which includes 18 holes, buggy for 18 holes, unlimited practice on the driving range before play. All buggies are electric and have Pro Shop Computer System fitted. We expect this course to become the most efficiently run on the Algarve, in terms of high standard of service, course quality and speed of play.

New 18 under construction is due to open in 2002.

Handicap Limits Men 28 Ladies 36

The old B & C. Used seven times for the Portuguese Open, this course favours the long hitter but requires good course navigation to score well. Both nines are anti clockwise but the first favours a good draw and the second favours a fade from the tee. Holes 3, 5 and 17 feature lakes which must be negotiated. Holes 8, 10,15 and 18 are the most testing for the scratch player. While holes 2,3,5,12,13 and 17 offer the best birdie chances.

From October 2000 Quinta do Lago and Ria Formosa will have different green fee rates. Due to a new system at these courses it will not be possible to guarantee absolutely which of these two courses will be played. To simplify our own system we will charge the same rate for both courses and the players will pay a Esc 2,000 supplement at the course if they play Quinta do Lago.

Ria Formosa
Ria Formosa

Length 6205 par 72

Handicap Limits Men 28 Ladies 36

The old A & D. This course has four great par 5’s all requiring power and accuracy- and providing superb views. Watch out for the wind on the par 3’s - 14 is outstanding. The par 4’s are doglegs except for 10 and 13 and require precision driving. Beware of the magnetic lakes on 13th and 18th.

Due to contracts will local hotels, resort complexes and members, these two courses are heavily booked until the contract release dates - which means that we cannot obtain a confirmed start time until two weeks before play. It is not advisable to book groups of more than 12 players in peak golf months on Quinta do Lago or Ria Formosa.

Two tee starts from both nines except in June July and August.

Very difficult 14th par 5 with a lake just before the green. Two excellent par 3’s - 13th & 15th. 3 nines now. So 3 tee starts - We cannot guarantee which combination will be played.

No discounts for juniors.

Pine Cliffs
Pine Cliffs

As its name suggests this little nine hole course has been built on top of the cliffs of the Acoteias area, amongst the natural pine forests. The 9th hole played from a tee on one side of the cliff over a huge cavernous drop to a green on the other side is particularly stunning. The course is set in the grounds of the Sheraton Hotel and may be booked as 9 or 18. In peak hotel season it can be difficult to get confirmed starts.

Pinta ( Carvoeiro )

Built on the natural Portuguese inland landscape formerly known as Vale de Pinta, this course has a superb selection of ancient olive trees and the design uses all the natural features to the best advantage.

The greens are some of the fastest you will encounter in the Algarve and although this is not an exceptionally long course, careful thought is required to score well.

The new first tee is at the David Leadbetter Academy but check-in is currently at the original clubhouse adjacent to the Gramacho course.
